Alan Arkin is on the mend after having a health scare earlier this week. On Friday, November 13, Alan's publicist Melody Korenbrot confirmed the actor was hospitalized on Monday and was released one day later. "He had a mini stroke, and he is fine," Melody added.

Sources told TMZ that doctors did a battery of tests on the "Argo" actor and there's no significant damage. The 81-year-old actor was scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles premiere of his multigenerational holiday comedy "Love the Coopers" on Thursday but he was a no-show.

"Love the Coopers" also starring Ed Helms, Diane Keaton, John Goodman, Olivia Wilde and Amanda Seyfried hits U.S. theaters on Friday.

In a 2007 interview with Jerry Bowen, Alan, who's best known for his roles in "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Edward Scissorhands", opened up about how he knew if a character he's playing really resonates. "When it's doing you, and you're not doing it," he said. "It's like anything else in life, there's a place if you're devoted enough to an area of your life, you'll find it's starting to do you."

"That, to me, is the most joyous experience possible in any area when things start happening and you don't have any say over the matter. You're just watching it take place through you and around you. If I'm lucky, once in a while, it happens with a character for a few minutes," he added.
