There's no stopping for "Limitless". The freshman drama, which is adapted from a 2011 movie of the same title starring Bradley Cooper, has just received nine additional episode order from CBS, bringing its first season to a total of 22 episodes.

"We're excited how 'Limitless' continues to evolve creatively each week and stand out with its unique style of storytelling," president of CBS Entertainment Glenn Geller says in a statement. "It's off to a strong start in a highly competitive environment."

It marks the network's first full season pickup for a new show this fall and one of only a few among all newbies on major networks so far. Other rookies which previously got back-nine episode order were NBC's "Blindspot", FOX's "Rosewood" and ABC's "Quantico" and "Dr. Ken".

CBS has additionally ordered six additional scripts for new medical drama "Code Black", giving an early sign of a full season order.

The "Limitless" TV series starring Jake McDorman and Jennifer Carpenter has been averaging 11.4 million total viewers and a 2.4 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demo. It ranks as the fall season's second most-watched freshman show.

The story follows Brian Finch (McDorman) who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them, working together with Agent Rebecca Harris (Carpenter). The drama airs Tuesdays at 10 P.M. ET.
