Lamar Odom's Aunt Thanks Sunrise Hospital, Continues to Ask for Prayers

Lamar's aunt speaks on behalf of the family, asking fans and friends to keep Lamar on their prayers as he 'begins a new chapter in his road to recovery.'

AceShowbiz - Now that Lamar Odom has been transferred from Nevada's Sunrise Hospital to the ICU of the famed Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., his family is thanking supporters and doctors at the former facility. The former NBA star's aunt JaNean Mercer took time to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for giving her nephew such wonderful care, while at the same time also asked continued prayers from fans, friends, as well as family.

"On behalf of JaNean Mercer and the entire Odom family, we would like to send a tremendous THANK YOU to the illustrious medical team at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas," JaNean said in a statement. "Your superb, round-the-clock care gave us the comfort and assurances we desperately needed to know Lamar would persevere."

"As Lamar begins a new chapter in his road to recovery, PLEASE continue to uplift him and the family in prayer. He continues to make miraculous progress, taking a few steps in Los Angeles," the statement continued. "We couldn't be more overjoyed! We realize Lamar's continued improvement will not be easy, however his unrelenting strength and faith in GOD will pull him through." JaNean went on adding, "To everyone from across the nation and around the world who continued to send your love and prayers, we THANK YOU sincerely."

Lamar spent four days in a coma last week after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel on October 13. He was transferred on Monday, October 19 from Nevada's Sunrise Hospital to the ICU of the famed Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. to receive rehab treatment. The former NBA star was airlifted in a helicopter.
