'Gotham' Casts Raul Castillo as DC Comics Villain Flamingo
TV

As part of the villain-centric season, the FOX series will introduce the assassin who has the appetite of eating his victims' flesh.

"Looking" star Raul Castillo has joined FOX's "Gotham" as DC Comics villain Eduardo Flamingo. The Latino actor will make his debut in the ninth episode of season 2.

Described as "one of Gotham's most dangerous hitmen," Flamingo first appeared in Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert's "Batman" #666. The comic books presented him as an emotionless, unfeeling killer that has a tendency to eat his victim's faces after he's murdered them. He has skills on all kinds of firearms but his weapon of choice would be a spiked chain.

According to Variety, the assassin character will retain his traits on the TV series and will prove to be one of Benjamin McKenzie's Detective Jim Gordon's trickiest foes.

In an interview with IGN, showrunner Bruno Heller previously confirmed Flamingo's appearance. "[Tigress and Theo Galavan] are our big bad villains of the year. I don't want to say too much about them because they need to walk on stage unheralded for maximum impact. We've got some great, fun villains coming up like Flamingo and, for the real fans, Firefly."

The show will also bring in Clayface, Mr. Freeze and Mad Hatter in the sophomore season. "Gotham" airs on Mondays at 8 P.M. EST on FOX.
