The 'Modern Family' actress was falsely reported to have asked the Pope 'to preside over her wedding to Joe Manganiello' so that 'it'll last forever.'

AceShowbiz - Bride-to-be Sofia Vergara has been hit with false report claiming she asked the Pope to officiate her upcoming wedding to Joe Manganiello. It was the National Enquirer that first broke the news that the "Modern Family" actress "wants the Pope to preside over her wedding to Joe Manganiello" because "She thinks if [the marriage is] blessed by the Pope, it'll last forever!"

The site quoted an insider as saying, though it's a "long shot," Sofia and Joe have "reached out to the Los Angeles diocese to formally request a Vatican wedding!" The National Enquirer went on noting that Sofia previously had a Catholic church wedding for her first marriage when she was 18, before divorcing a year later. "Normally, you can't get married in the church again unless you get an annulment. [But] since this will be Joe's first wedding - and hers came when she was so young - they're hoping," the outlet cited a source as saying.

However, the report has been debunked by Gossip Cop. The outlet was informed by an impeccable source close to Sofia that the claim was "untrue."

Sofia will be marrying Joe on November 22 later this year in a ceremony planned to be held at Florida's Breakers Palm Beach resort. She recently opened up about her wedding plans to Martha Stewart Weddings', featured on its fall issue.
