Sources tell Page Six that while Vergara and Hamilton got along remarkably well during their recent meet-up, they both decided that their 12-year age difference is a major barrier.
Vergara, 52, who is riding a career high with her Netflix drama "Griselda," thinks the gap is too substantial. Meanwhile, 40-year-old Hamilton, who is contemplating retirement after a storied racing career, believes she is looking for different qualities in a partner.
"She thinks there's too big an age gap," shared an insider. "Even he thinks she's looking for something else in a guy."
The two were seen enjoying a flirty dinner at a trendy New York restaurant, where witnesses noted that Vergara barely touched her food because she was so engaged in conversation. Sporting a sleek, one-shoulder black top and wide-leg blue jeans, Vergara dazzled onlookers. Hamilton matched her stylish vibe with a caramel-brown flannel and baggy, paint-splattered jeans, embodying an effortless cool.
Despite the evening's flirtatious energy, insiders insist there are no plans for a follow-up one-on-one date. Both are at very different stages in their lives. Vergara, fresh off her second divorce and with aspirations of finding "health, money, [and] a boyfriend" in the new year, might not have the same objectives as Hamilton, who has never been engaged and is in the middle of significant career transitions.
Vergara's recent past included a short-term romance with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman following her seven-year marriage to Joe Manganiello. On the other hand, Hamilton has kept a relatively low profile in the dating world since his on-again-off-again relationship with Nicole Scherzinger ended in 2015.
