Aaron Eckhart is officially attached to star in a biopic about Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eckhart will join Tom Hanks, starring as Jeff Skiles, the first officer and co-pilot on the Airbus A320.

Hanks stars as Captain Sully, the pilot who safely landed his plane full of 155 passengers in the Hudson River after both engines were knocked out by a flock of geese several minutes after takeoff. Sully was accompanied by his co-pilot Skiles in the miraculous incident. Skiles was manually flying the plane when the birds crashed into the engines. He helped Sully safely land the U.S. Airways plane.

Todd Komarnicki will pen the screenplay based on Sully's own 2009 autobiography entitled "Highest Duty" which he wrote with Jeffrey Zaslow. Clint Eastwood will direct the film which will be in development at Warner Bros.. Eastwood will also produce alongside Tim Moore and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall.

"I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall," said Sully of the feature film earlier this year. "The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team."

Eckhart's most recent movie credits were "I, Frankenstein" and "Olympus Has Fallen", and he will reprise his role as President Benjamin Asher for the sequel "London Has Fallen". Eckhart will next be seen in boxing drama "Bleed for This" alongside Miles Teller.
