AceShowbiz - The "Empire" clan is expanding with the addition of Kelly Rowland. The R&B singer is added to the cast of the hit FOX series for the upcoming season 2 to play Lucious Lyon's (Terrence Howard) mother in a flashback. E! News first reported the news.
Rumors of the former Destiny's Child star's involvement in the drama series first sparked last month when a picture circulated on Twitter showing the singer hanging out with "Empire" screenwriters. "Hey, @KELLYROWLAND! Thank you for spending some time with the #Empire writers!" a caption for the image read.
Rowland is the latest star added to the cast of "Empire" for season 2, joining Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys and Marisa Tomei. The new season of the Lee Daniels and Danny Strong-created series will premiere September 23 on FOX.
