Zack Snyder Addresses the Ending of 'Man of Steel', Reveals the Relation with 'Batman v Superman'
Movie

The 'Watchmen' director explained why the massive destruction was needed in 'Man of Steel', while Ben Affleck teased how the film could affect Batman's role in upcoming 'Batman v Superman'.

AceShowbiz - The massive destruction with thousands of innocents being killed at the ending of 2013's "Man of Steel" was controversial. Some Superman (Henry Cavill) fans criticized director Zack Snyder for being too dramatic in the final battle. However, in a recent interview, Snyder revealed why this level of destruction was needed.

He was surprised to know fans were so shocked by the damage in "Man of Steel". "I was surprised because that's the thesis of Superman for me, that you can't just have superheroes knock around and have there be no consequences," the director said.

It's not surprising actually if fans were shocked or even criticized the damage caused by Superman in his battle against Zod (Michael Shannon). For a superhero like him, to fight with Zod in Metropolis without much concern for destruction seems to be an irresponsible action. However, there is another side fans can learn from the tragedy.

Just like DC fans, it seems like Batman (Ben Affleck) was outraged too with the mistake Superman did in his final battle. Affleck hinted that it was the catastrophe which sparked a battle between Superman and Batman. He also commented on the consequences of the final battle in "Man of Steel".

"One of the things I liked was Zack's idea of showing accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings. And in fact, one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne's building so he knew people who died in that Black Zero event," Affleck said.

Based on what Affleck said, it's safe to presume that there will be a serious battle between the two superheroes in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" because some of those who died during Black Zero event were friends and colleagues of Wayne. So, it is not too much if Wayne becomes very angry with Superman. This is how the conflict between the two mighty heroes may start.

Fans can enjoy the epic battle between the two superheroes in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which will arrive in U.S. theaters on March 25, 2016. Also joining the cast are Jesse Eisenberg who plays Lex Luthor, Jason Momoa who stars as Aquaman, and Amy Adams who portrays Lois Lane.
