In addition to David Duchovny (Mulder), Gillian Anderson (Scully) and Joel McHale (Tad O'Malley), some of the images feature Annet Mahendru as a possible alien abductee.

AceShowbiz - New sneak peeks at "The X-Files" revival have emerged as production on the upcoming miniseries is still underway. EW has obtained new official pictures from the show, featuring the returning stars David Duchovny (Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Scully) as well as newcomers Joel McHale (Tad O'Malley) and Annet Mahendru (Sveta).

McHale plays a conservative talk show host who becomes an unlikely ally to Mulder. Together with Scully, they are investigating the curious case of a possible alien abductee, portrayed by Mahendru.

Things have changed a lot since fans last saw Mulder and Scully in the 2008 feature film "The X-Files: I Want To Believe". Duchovny says, "Mulder's not in a great place. He's wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe. He's in a dark, dark place."

Scully, meanwhile, appears to be in a better state. Anderson chimes in, "I like where we find Mulder and Scully in their relationship. I also like the area of zeitgeist that we step in to. It's on point and raises some very interesting issues. And question marks."

Each episode will feature new monster and series creator Chris Carter promises that there won't be the same old monsters "We're not going to reboot any of the old favorites, although it was something we all thought about," he says. "These are all brand new stories. We hope to scare you in brand new ways."

"The X-Files" six-episode event series will launch with a two-night premiere on Sunday, January 24 and Monday, January 25 on FOX.
