The 'Chronicle' director clarifies rumors surrounding his exit from the 'Star Wars' spin-off, claiming that he had no problem working with writer/producer Simon Kinberg.

AceShowbiz - Director Josh Trank spoke out for the first time about his departure from an untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II. In an interview with LA Times, Trank revealed why he left the project and admitted that he didn't expect that things would get really horrible after all.

"At first I was like, 'I'm just not going to say anything because it will blow over.' But I was shocked - it just hasn't blown over. People get so excited to raise their pitchforks," Trank said. "I knew that this was going to be questioned and it was going to come under skepticism as to why I left 'Star Wars'," he added. Trank also said that leaving the "Star Wars" project is the hardest decision he had to make in his life.

It was said that the director was fired from the project due to his strange behavior on set. Other sources claimed that the director had a conflict with writer and producer Simon Kinberg. Trank later addressed all of these issues, saying that they were not true. "None of those facts were true - and any of the facts that were true were spun in such a maliciously wrong way. If you ask anybody by name who I've worked with, from Simon to [producer] Hutch [Parker] or my crew or anybody else, they'd be like, 'We've been working really hard on this movie and we've had an excellent time working together.' It's been a challenging movie - for all of the right reasons."

Trank also denied the rumor about his dogs that were said to have caused $100,000 worth of damage to a property rented for him by Fox. "Please - it's crazy and it's not true," he said. "I have three pugs and a little Boston terrier - that's all I'm saying. They're fine. I've been living in another house for over a year now and there's literally no problem. I love my landlord," he explained.

The helmer of "The Fantastic Four" additionally revealed why he decided to leave the "Star Wars" spin-off and shared his plan for a future project. "I want to do something original after this because I've been living under public scrutiny, as you've seen, for the last four years of my life," he said. "And it's not healthy for me right now in my life. I want to do something that's below the radar."
