The rapper also had a chat with host Ellen DeGeneres about him being a positive icon and his collaboration with Taylor Swift during his appearance on Wednesday, May 27.

AceShowbiz - Kendrick Lamar took over "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday morning, May 27. The rapper stopped by the talk show to deliver a special performance of "These Walls" from his latest album "To Pimp a Butterfly".

After an introduction from host Ellen DeGeneres, the Compton native appeared on the stage in a cream sweater teamed with jeans and started rhyming while a pair of dancers showed off some moves beside him. An artist painted a picture of the dancers during the song.

Following the performance, DeGeneres joined Lamar to congratulate him on his Grammy Awards and the honor he recently received from the state of California for being a positive icon.

Asked what it meant for him to be a positive icon, he explained, "It means everything to me because I know there's a lot of kids in my neighborhood that's watching TV and saying, 'You know what? I want to be a positive influence just like Kendrick Lamar,' or whoever is out there doing something for the good."

Lamar also discussed his friendship with Taylor Swift. A fan of each other's music, the two worked together on a new version of the songbird's "Bad Blood" which has just landed at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 thanks in large part to its star-studded music video. The collaboration marks Swift's fourth single to top the chart and Lamar's first.

Talking about how he got to collaborate with the pop diva, Lamar said, "I've always been a fan of hers, and she was a fan of my music and she reached out and we got it done."
