The diva explains the reason behind the abrupt cancellation, saying she's on 'vocal rest per doctor's order' after fighting bronchitis for days.

AceShowbiz - It's only been one week since Mariah Carey started her Las Vegas residency, but she's already disappointed her fans. The diva was forced to cancel her show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Wednesday night, May 13 due to bronchitis.

She apologized and gave further explanation in a message she has just posted via Instagram. "Hey guys.. I've been fighting bronchitis for the past few days.. almost better but on mandatory vocal rest per doctor's orders. I'm so sorry to cancel tonight's show but I promise to make it up to you!!! Love you always, MC," she wrote.

According to TMZ, the cancellation was announced at the last minute. Numerous fans were already at the venue only to find a sign saying, "Tonight's performance has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled." For now, Carey's next shows are set to take place this Saturday and Sunday.

Carey kicked off her residency on May 6 to positive reviews. She's now gearing up to release her new album "#1 to Infinity" which is hitting shelves next week. In addition to her 18 singles that have all peaked at Billboard Hot 100's No. 1, the compilation set will include a new song called "Infinity".
