"21 Jump Street" is getting a spinoff. Sony is working on a female-centric movie based on the tone of the franchise starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. According to Tracking Board, Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs ("Broad City") are hired to write the script.

In the meantime, the original movie which is adapted from a vintage TV show starring Johnny Depp has spawned a sequel "22 Jump Street" and will be followed with a third one. Rodney Rothman from the second movie is set to return to write script for the threequel, while directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will produce it.

In addition to the female "21 Jump Street" project, Sony is doing a female-driven "Ghostbusters" movie. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon are tapped to star in it, while Paul Fieg is on board as a director.
