Olivia Munn is added to the growing cast ensemble of "X-Men: Apocalypse". Director Bryan Singer announces on Instagram that "The Newsroom" actress has been tapped to play the role of Betsy Braddock or best known as Psylocke.

In the comics, the female mutant has telepathy and telekinesis powers and later turns into a ninja assassin who fights with swords she created with her mind. She was previously played by Mei Melancon in 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand".

It will be Munn's second appearance in comic book movie genre. She previously had a small role as Chess Roberts in Marvel's 2010 flick "Iron Man 2". Last seen in "Mortdecai" and "Deliver Us from Evil", she will next appear in "Ride Along 2".

"Apocalypse" is due May 27, 2016 in the States. Munn joins other new members like Ben Hardy, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, and Lana Condor who are cast as Archangel, younger Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Jubilee respectively.

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters are set to return as Prof. X, Magneto, Beast, and Quicksilver respectively. Channing Tatum is rumored to make his debut as Gambit before the character gets his own solo film on October 7, 2016.

Jennifer Lawrence is expected to make her final appearance as Mystique in the upcoming movie, while Hugh Jackman hints at his departure after "The Wolverine 3" which is planned for May 3, 2017.
