Movie

The actor who made his directorial debut with 'Lost River' is in negotiations to star in a new movie based on Disney's chilling theme park ride.

AceShowbiz - Former Disney star Ryan Gosling is expected to return to the Mouse House with "The Haunted Mansion (2016)". TheWrap reports he is eyed to star in Guillermo del Toro's passion project which is based on Disney's theme park ride of the same name.

Gosling and del Toro have shown hints at collaboration since Oscar weekend when they were photographed hitting Disneyland together. The director later moderated a panel at SXSW to discuss the actor's directorial debut "Lost River".

"The Haunted Mansion" was first announced at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. It will be Disney's second attempt to take moviegoers on a tour of the chilling park ride. In 2003, Eddie Murphy starred in a supernatural comedy of the same name.

The new adaptation is scripted by D.V. DeVincentis ("High Fidelity") and will have no connection to the previous film. del Toro once said, "We will make the Haunted Mansion the most haunted place on Earth. We are not making it a comedy. We will make it scary and fun at the same time. For me, the Mansion needs to be the haunted house movie for this generation."
