AceShowbiz - Joss Whedon discusses Quicksilver who will be introduced with his twin sister Scarlet Witch in "Avengers: Age of Ultron". He admits he was not happy when he heard Fox used Quicksilver in "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Although comparison is inevitable, he assures that fans will be treated to a very different speedster in "The Avengers" sequel.
The director said he always planned to include Quicksilver in the second "Avengers" movie since the beginning and had made his plan known within the Marvel offices. So he was stunned when he found out about the "X-Men" situation. "Months after I started, they were like, [Days of Future Past] just changed Juggernaut to Quicksilver. I'm like, 'What?!' " Whedon said.
"I think there's room for more than one Quicksilver. But yeah, I was never thrilled," the director told BuzzFeed. "There's going to be an entire season of The Flash that's gone on before my movie too, and what Aaron is doing and what I wanted him to do is so different from what they were doing in that movie, that I think we're fine."
"It's a unique scenario; That's the only character where that could happen, and it happened," producer Kevin Feige shared his thoughts on the matter. "We knew it would be very different based on the various interpretations of the character through the comic. It may as well be different characters."
But bringing the character to life proves to be a challenge. The original plan was for %cAaron Johnson% to film his Quicksilver scenes by sprinting on a treadmill in front of green screen, but it was not good enough to make the character distinctive. "There was no real life to it. It looked really dull," the actor opened up.
So they decided to take it outdoor. He explained, "The more dynamic or the messier my arms were or the wider my legs were, [and] the more I changed up the wave and the rhythm of the running, the better. It feels more emotional and expressive. It's a lot more fun that way."
The rookies played by Johnson and %cElizabeth Olsen% will join the mainstays like Captain America (%cChris Evans%), Thor (%cChris hemsworth%), Iron Man (%cRobert Downey Jr.%), Black Widow (%cScarlett Johansson%), Hulk (%cMark Ruffalo%), Hawkeye (%cJeremy Renner%), and Nick Fury (%cSamuel L. Jackson%). It's due May 1.
