AceShowbiz - Salma Hayek has become the latest Hollywood celebrity who joins the famous social media Facebook. After years of refusing to engage with social media, the screen beauty has finally given up. Her official Facebook page actually has been running for quite some time, but it was not her personally who's updating it.
In an interview with Facebook's EMEA vice president Nicola Mendelsohn at Advertising Week Europe in London on Monday, March 23, Hayek revealed the reasons of her absence from any social media. "I'm a rebel, I don't want to do what everyone else does. I really did resist it. I had this idea that you should always be present, not always calling, texting, when I'm with you, I'm with you. I feel sometime people are not so present because of social media. You need to look up at people around you," so she explained.
And marking her first ever Facebook post, Hayek wrote on her wall, "Life is about new discoveries, so today after decades of a self-imposed allergy to technology, I am losing my social media virginity!" She went on, "I want to be there for the people who have supported me for all these years. Because I am grateful to them and I am hoping that they get to know me better. I am excited to start this new adventure with you and I hope that it will be a fun and inspiring one."
Following her Facebook post, Hayek will be officially joining Instagram by Tuesday, March 24. She will be using the name of @salmahayek.
