The upcoming Mike Tyson biopic has apparently secured a notable director at the helm. Oscar winner Martin Scorsese is set to direct the untitled flick. Breaking the news is actor Jamie Foxx who is expected to play the famous boxer in the new movie.

"I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson," he revealed in an interview with Power 105's The Breakfast Club. "Mike Tyson is on one side, I'm on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull."

The project will also reunite Scorsese with Terence Winter who previously scripted his movie "The Wolf of Wall Street". It's unclear which part of Tyson's life the movie will focus on, but Winter has a lot of materials to explore since the former boxing champ has quite an eventful life over the past 30 years.

Tyson once served six years in jail for rape after losing his title. One of his most controversial fights was a rematch against Evander Holyfield where he bit off his opponent's ear. After retiring from boxing, he made a cameo in "The Hangover" and did a one-man show in Las Vegas. He also tried out Broadway.

Although there was never a feature film depicting Tyson's life story before, HBO once made a TV movie about the retired athlete with Michael Jai White playing the lead role.
