Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen Won't Return to 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

The Professor Xavier depicter says in a new interview that he and the Magneto depicter will not be back for the movie set for release on May 27, 2016.

AceShowbiz - Fans of "X-Men: Apocalypse" won't see Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in the upcoming movie. Stewart and McKellen who portray present day version of Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto respectively would not make appearances in "Apocalypse", Stewart shared the news in an interview with Larry King on "Larry King Now" (via Yahoo! Movie).

In a clip of the show, King asked if Stewart would return in "Apocalypse". "No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either," he replied. "I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don't think we'll be making an appearance."

The follow-up to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will take place in the 80s. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will reprise their roles as the young version of Xavier and Magneto respectively. Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters are also expected to be back to play their respective roles as Mystique, Beast and Quicksilver.

The villainous Apocalypse a.k.a. En Sabah Nur, who is the forefather of the mutants, was briefly teased in the end of "Days of Future Past" where he emerged alongside The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse. Directed by Bryan Singer, the movie is set to start filming in April for May 27, 2016 release.
