Phylicia Rashad Says She Was Misquoted About Her Bill Cosby Defense
Celebrity

Phylicia has set the record straight about her recent comments defending her on-screen husband after receiving backlash.

AceShowbiz - Phylicia Rashad has clarified her controversial comments defending Bill Cosby in her interview on "World News Tonight with David Muir" on Wednesday night, January 7. Her interview came after Gloria Allred slammed her in a press conference where three new women came forward with their allegations against Bill earlier on the day.

During the interview, Phylicia was asked by Linsey Davis about her comments to Roger Friedman's Showbiz 411 column, in which she was quoted saying, "Forget those women." She replied, "That was a misquote. That is not what I said. What I said is, 'this is not about the women. This is about something else. This is about the obliteration of legacy.' "

Linsey then told Phylicia, "Cause some people might think that it was dismissive," to which the star of "The Cosby Show" responded, "I am a woman. I would never say such a thing."

When asked about Bill's scandal, Phylicia said, "I have never heard that before and I can't even speak to those things and don't want to."

Gloria previously blasted Phylicia for her comments defending Bill, saying, "Phylicia, if anyone did to you or to your daughter, your sister or your mother what Cosby is alleged to have done to these women, I have no doubt that you would not be saying, 'Forget these women.' "

"Phylicia I vow to you that I will not forget these women, because women matter. They deserve respect and dignity," Gloria added, "Phylicia, you should be supporting these women rather than joining Cosby's paid 'attack dogs' who are trying to undermine them in any way they can."
