More info surfaced online following hacking at Sony Pictures two weeks ago. On Tuesday, December 9, The Wall Street Journal reported that executives at Sony and Marvel owner Walt Disney talked about the possibility of Spider-Man appearing in a Marvel movie.

In an email dated October 30 between Sony Pictures president Doug Belgrad and Sony's motion picture chief Amy Pascal, a possible scenario which would see Marvel-produced "Spider-Man" trilogy while Sony retains "creative control, marketing and distribution" was discussed. In a separate exchange, Pascal revealed to a business partner that Marvel wanted Spider-Man being featured in "Captain America: Civil War".

The talk didn't work, but Sony still has some plans for the web slinger. According to the leaked documents, in November they were planning a "Spidey Summit" for January to talk about Spidey's future. They reportedly are planning some projects which include an animated comedy produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord ("The Lego Movie"), as well as some previously reported spin-offs focusing on Sinister Six, Venom and female characters around Spider-Man.

Hackers previously leaked unreleased movies as well as sensitive data about Sony's current and former employees including aliases used by celebrities. On Monday, Mashable reported that the hackers, who called themselves Guardians of Peace, sent emails to Sony execs, asking for "monetary compensation" to avoid "great damages."

North Korea has been linked to the cyberattack, but they denied their involvement. Joe Demarest, assistant director with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's cyber division, suggested during a recent event there was no connection between the hack and the country. "There is no attribution to North Korea at this point," he said, as quoted by Reuters.
