One Direction surprised fans on Thursday, November 6 by releasing a new song from their upcoming fourth album, "FOUR". Titled "Ready to Run", the promotional track was made available on iTunes after fans who pre-ordered the LP reached some target numbers on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
"We hope you like it and can't wait for you to hear the rest," Harry Styles tweeted after the group got 40,000 Twitter retweets, 40,000 Facebook shares, 4,000 Instagram comments and 4,000 Tumblr reblogs.
"Ready to Run" is a folk/pop song that sounds similar to 1D's 2013 hit "Story of My Life". "This time I'm ready to run/ Escape from the city and follow the sun/ Cause I wanna be yours, don't you wanna be mine?/ I don't wanna get lost in the dark of the night this time/ I'm ready to run," the boys sing.
"FOUR", led by hit single "Steal My Girl", is due out on November 17. To support the release, the boyband will embark on "On the Road Again" tour next year. The North American leg will kick off July 9 at the Qualcomm stadium in San Diego, California.
