Christian Bale Quits Steve Jobs Biopic Before Negotiations Start

The actor, who did not have to audition for the part, reportedly felt the role was not right for him and withdrew.

AceShowbiz - The new untitled Steve Jobs biopic seemed to have moved on with the casting of Christian Bale in the main role. However, it was reported on Monday, November 3 that the actor had bailed out.

It was the scriptwriter Aaron Sorkin who confirmed that Bale was attached to play Jobs in the film to be directed by Danny Boyle. "We needed the best actor on the board in a certain range and that's Christian Bale," he said, adding Bale did not have to audition to get the part.

However, sources told THR that the actor felt the role was not right for him and decided to exit before the movie begins shooting this winter. It's rather abrupt because Boyle was scheduled to meet the cast this week to talk about the movie. It is yet clear whether Bale's withdrawal will affect the rest of the casting.

Coming from Sony, the project is divided into three acts that detail Jobs preparing for three presentations that came to define his life and the life of the company he co-founded, lost and came back to.

Seth Rogen is still in talks to play the role of Steve Wozniak but a deal is yet struck. Leonardo DiCaprio was the first actor eyed for the role of Jobs but he quit earlier this year due to scheduling conflict. Neither Bale nor DiCaprio had begun negotiations when they decided to depart.
