Sam Smith had a surprise for fans who attended his concert at Manchester's Albert Hall on Wednesday night, October 29. During the performance of "Stay With Me", hundreds of people in the crowd went wild when unexpected guest Ed Sheeran appeared on the stage.

Backed by a band and some vocalists, the two singers shared lead vocal duties while some concertgoers sang along. After finishing the song, Sheeran gave Smith a big hug before exiting the stage.

Smith then thanked the 23-year-old redhead on Instagram. "So amazing to have this KING @teddysphotos on stage with me tonight," he said, captioning a photo taken during the performance. "Such a wise and true friend to have. Love ya brother x."

Sheeran has said that he's a fan of Smith's "Stay With Me". Back in June, he performed a cover of the ballad when he visited BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

"It is my favorite song of the last year," Sheeran explained why he covered the song. "I think it's an instant classic. It's gonna be around for a long time. [Smith] is gonna be around for a long time, as well."
