AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift has been named as New York City's ambassador of tourism. The singer, whose new album "1989" features a song called "Welcome to New York", announced her new role when she stopped by "Good Morning America" on Monday, October 27.

"I'm still learning, but I'm so enthusiastic about this city that when I love something, I'm very vocal about it," the 24-year-old singer said. "New York was a huge landscape for what became this album. It's affected my life in ways I'm not even aware of fully."

In a video promotion for NYC & Company, Swift shared what she liked from the city. "What makes New York City New York City is that it is unlike any city in the whole world. It's almost like it has its own heartbeat. You can find fashion that inspires you, art that inspires you, humanity that inspires you. Everywhere you look, it's impossible not to fall in love or be affected by something in New York City," she said.

During her appearance on the morning show, the country-turned-pop singer also announced that she would headline the New Year's Rockin' Eve in Times Square. Set to sing "her hit songs," Swift will join other performers during the five-and-a-half-hour show airing on ABC.
