Neil Patrick Harris Confirmed to Host 2015 Oscars

The 'How I Met Your Mother' actor announces that he will serve as emcee at the Academy Awards on February 22 next year.

AceShowbiz - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has found a host for the upcoming 87th annual Oscars. Neil Patrick Harris announces the hosting duty in a video posted on Twitter. "I'm in!" he cryptically says on the phone. "Nice."

The "How I Met Your Mother" star then shows his bucket list and circles "host the Oscars" at the bottom. The others on the list which includes "meet the President," "have children," and "get married" are already marked.

"It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year's Academy Awards," he says in a statement. "I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true."

Neil has already hosted prestigious events like Tony and Emmy Awards, but it will be his first time hosting the Academy Awards. The upcoming event will air February 22, 2015 on ABC. Academy Honorary Awards will be given to Jean-Claude Carriere, Hayao Miyazaki, and Maureen O'Hara, while Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award goes to Harry Belafonte.
