Marvel Debuts Female God of Thunder in Preview of New 'Thor' Comic Book
Movie

The mighty hammer Mjolnir lies on the moon, unable to be lifted by anyone in all the heavens, even by Thor himself.

The first issue of new "Thor" comic series gets a preview. The first three pages of the rebooted graphic novel are released online by Marvel ahead of its October 1 debut. A distraught Thor is seen trying to lift the great hammer Mjolnir in vain as people in his kingdom, now called Asgardia, look on.

Something dark has befallen the God of Thunder, leaving him unworthy and unable to lift his magic hammer which now lies abandoned on the surface of the moon. Then, a mysterious woman shows up lifting it with ease and ultimately changes the inscription on the hammer from "he" to "she."

While the comic book version of the famous Asgardian knight gets rebooted, the movie version will stay the same. Chris Hemsworth will continue to play the hammer-wielding hero in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" which is slated to arrive in U.S. theaters starting May 1, 2015.
