'Guardians of the Galaxy' Concept Art Reveals Jason Momoa as Drax the Destroyer

The early concept art drawn for the James Gunn-directed blockbuster shows the 'Conan the Barbarian' actor in character.

AceShowbiz - Jason Momoa was initially courted to play Drax the Destroyer in "Guardians of the Galaxy", but he passed on the offer leading to the casting of pro wrestler Dave Bautista. How the "Game of Thrones" actor would have looked like as the bald hero is now revealed.

Andy Park, a concept artist who works for Marvel, posted on Twitter a picture that showed the initial concept for Drax. While Bautista is completely shirtless with red scarring patterns all over his body, Momoa was envisioned wearing a few straps of leather as the character.

Momoa turned down the role to avoid playing repetitive characters. "It didn't really fit in my time because I've done so many things where I don't say much and I'm colored up and I have my shirt off again," he said referring to his Khal Drogo character on HBO's series and his "Conan the Barbarian" role.

While the Marvel deal for James Gunn-directed blockbuster didn't work out, Momoa will still soon star in a superhero movie. The muscled actor is linked to Warner Bros.' "Aquaman" based on the property of Marvel's rival company DC Comics.
