After a months-long inquest, it is confirmed that Peaches died of heroin overdose as her blood contained a high level of heroin together with traces of codeine, methadone and morphine.

AceShowbiz - Peaches Geldof, who was found dead in her house in Kent, England on April 7, is confirmed to have died of heroin overdose after a months-long inquest. According to AP, a pathologist revealed that Peaches' blood contained a high level of heroin as well as traces of codeine, methadone and morphine. Puncture marks were found on her arms and legs.

Coroner Roger Hatch said on July 23, "It's said that the death of Peaches Geldof-Cohen is history repeating itself, but this not entirely so. By November last year she had ceased to take heroin as a result of the considerable treatment and counseling that she had received. This was a significant achievement for her, but for reasons we will never know prior to her death she returned to taking heroin."

Paul Fotheringham, Detective Chief Inspector who led the investigation, revealed that the heroin, which was found in a black cloth bag inside a cupboard over a bedroom door, contained a purity of 61|percent|. The purity level is much higher than the average level of drugs which are usually sold on the street.

Paul additionally said, "The black bag also contained 34 medical syringes, some were with needles and some without, some were sealed in original packaging and some contained traces of a brown coloured residue. There were also 45 packaged and sealed syringes, alcohol wipes and cotton buds."

During a hearing, Peaches' husband Thomas Cohen revealed that the 25-year-old English journalist and TV presenter began to use heroin again in February. Thomas said that her wife once was seen flushing drugs, which she had hidden in the loft down the toilet of their house.

Thomas found her wife dead in their house after returning from a weekend away with the pair's 2-year-old son, Astala. Their 11-month-old son, Phaedra, was left at home with Peaches at that time.

Peaches' death is a sad echo of the life of her mother, Paula Yates, who also died of heroin overdose when Peaches was only 11 years old. Peaches' father, Bob Gedolf, previously told ITV News that his daughter's death was "intolerable." He said, "You'll be walking down the road and suddenly, out of the blue, there's an awareness of her. And I buckle."
