Jon Stewart wants to raise $10 billion to buy CNN. The Comedy Central host announced fake Kickstarter campaign to buy the cable news channel on his show "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Tuesday night, July 22.
Stewart earlier reported Rupert Murdoch's overtures to buy CNN parent company Time Warner. He noted that if the News Corp founder were successful in his bid to acquire Time Warner, he would have to sell off CNN because it would compete with Fox News.
The funnyman urged viewers to visit Letsbuycnn.com to donate, offering silly rewards, such as taking molly with Fareed Zakaria and hosting a CNN Hunger Games fight to the death, for the donation. The CNN Kickstarter campaign is fake and the "Let's Buy CNN" page does not exit on Kickstarter.
