After being teased in a trailer released earlier this month, OneRepublic's "Ordinary Human" that the band recorded for the soundtrack of "The Giver" has arrived online in full. The song is available for free download for fans who pre-order the film's soundtrack album on iTunes.
"Ordinary Human" is a slow-tempo track that sounds like something taken from their "Native" album. "I'm just an ordinary human/ Ordinary ways/ I'm just and ordinary human/ But I don't feel so ordinary today," frontman Ryan Tedder sings the chorus.
" 'The Giver' is a favorite book of ours and we're all incredibly thrilled to see it brought to the big screen. It's a huge honor to contribute our music to a movie that's not only an amazing story, but also has a cast of actors that we admire so much, like Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep," Tedder said of his involvement in the soundtrack in a statement. "We hope our fans are just as excited about it as we are."
"The Giver: Music Collection" is scheduled for release on August 5. The set will feature contributions from some musicians including Capital Cities, Jake Bugg, Rixton and Aloe Blacc.
As for the movie, it's slated to hit U.S. theaters on August 15. Based on a 1993 novel of same title by Lois Lowry, the Phillip Noyce-directed flick stars Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Swift among others.
