Through his lawyer, Lamar Odom changed his not guilty plea to no contest plea for his DUI case on Monday, December 9 in Superior Court in Van Nuys, California. After reaching a plea agreement, the basketball star got three years of probation and agreed to attend a three-month alcohol-education program.
Odom was arrested for driving under influence on August 30 morning. He was driving his white Mercedes SUV at 50 mph and was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officer. Odom showed "objective signs of intoxication" and was unable to perform sobriety test. He submitted no guilty plea two months ago before a Los Angeles County judge.
Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Rob Wilcox said Odom is also required to pay $1,814 in fines and fees for the DUI charge. Meanwhile, it will be determined at a later hearing how long Odom's driver's license will be suspended. It was suspended upon arrest.
The sportsman, who is married to reality star Khloe Kardashian, reportedly is getting ready to return to basketball court in mid-January. The free agent has done two weeks of strenuous workouts with renowned trainer Rob McClanaghan and has been talking to Los Angeles Clippers.
