If the deal is sealed, Denis Villeneuve will direct a crime story written by Taylor Sheridan in the vein of 'No Country for Old Men'.

Hot on heels of his success with "Prisoners" starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, Denis Villeneuve is eyed to direct "Sicario". It's a "No Country for Old Men"-esque crime drama scripted by "Sons of Anarchy" actor Taylor Sheridan.
In the story, mercenaries are allowed to breach the Mexico/U.S. border to arrest criminals as long as they are accompanied by a legitimate law officer. A female cop accompanies two male delta-force rangers to catch a drug lord, and they get the shock of their life as they find across the border a violent and depraved world they never imagined.
No word on the cast just yet, but there is already interest among distributors in this project. Molly Smith's Black Label is financing and producing the film with Basil Iwanyk's Thunder Road.
Villeneuve-directed "Prisoners" has collected over $118 million since being released last summer. It was a second runner-up for the BlackBerry People's Choice Award at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, behind "Philomena" and "12 Years a Slave". It recently won Best Ensemble from National Board of Review.
