The Showtime series will bring back prostitute Betty Dimello who hides the secret of her own sexuality.

Annaleigh Ashford is ditching her role in Broadway musical "Kinky Boots" to commit to Showtime's "Masters of Sex". The actress, who did a recurring role on the drama series' first season, has been upped to regular for season 2, Deadline confirmed.
Ashford takes on the role of young prostitute Betty Dimello, who assists Michael Sheen's Dr. William Masters in his research of human sexuality, on "Masters of Sex". Betty is a lesbian but she married a nice wealthy guy before the end of her arc. All the while, she was pinning on the love of her life, a woman, who may get screen time in second season.
Betty was written out after three episodes when Ashford was cast in "Kinky Boots" as factory worker Lauren. The musical won Tony awards for best musical in June while Ashford was nominated for best actress. Now that Ashford is promoted to a regular on "Masters of Sex", she will leave the hit Broadway musical sometime in March.
