The first clip for Spike Lee's thriller "Oldboy" has arrived, displaying a tense, heated conversation between the characters played by Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen. He is furious and almost losing it after finding out that she has read his letters, which she apologizes for.
A remake of a South Korean film based on a Japanese manga of the same title, the film follows the story of an advertising executive named Joe Doucett (Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for unknown reasons. Twenty years later he's free and goes on a mission to take revenge on his captor.
His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Olsen). The clip newly revealed by Entertainment Tonight teases how their bond started as he warily learned to trust her.
In a recent interview on "Extra", Brolin said he had to go through a painful transformation for the movie. "The idea of it was great, and then doing it was really painful because we gained 28 pounds in 10 days, because of salt... and then we had to lose 22 pounds in two and a half days," he explained.
It was "literally hurt," he recalled. "[So] we were figuring out ways to just hold the water as much as possible, so I was just like one big roly-poly bloat."
Supported by Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson among others, the movie is set to hit theaters across the country on November 27.
