The organizers of music festival at York University decide to cancel the rapper's appearance after learning that he has been charged with criminal battery for slapping a fan at a recent concert.

AceShowbiz - A$AP Rocky's upcoming show at a university in Canada has been canceled. According to TMZ, the rapper was supposed to take the stage at York University in Toronto next week as a part of the school's music festival.

The festival organizers then decided to remove Rocky from its line-up after learning that he had been charged with criminal battery. The university has issued a statement confirming Rocky's axed appearance.

Posted on the university's website, the statement reads, "The A$AP Rocky performance at the YorkFest Concert, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18, has been cancelled after the York Federation of Students Board of Directors learned of allegations of an assault against a woman that are currently before a U.S. court."

"The Board of Directors has decided that this event cannot proceed until this matter is resolved," the statement continues. "This decision should not be construed as suggesting that the YFS has any knowledge of the incident, or has a view on the innocence or guilt of the artist."

Rocky was accused of slapping a female fan during Jay-Z's Made in America Festival. The alleged victim, Lisa Wade, claimed the rapper slapped her as he tried to make his way through the crowd.

Insisting the slap wasn't an accident, Wade filed a criminal complaint with the District Attorney's Office.
