The 'Livin' La Vida Loca' hitmaker reveals he 'had internalized homophobia' growing up in Puerto Rico.

AceShowbiz - %cRicky Martin% opens up about his past struggle with his sexuality. In an interview with GQ Australia, the Puerto Rican singer who started his singing career with boyband %cMenudo% admits he, then-closeted gay, used to bully people he knew were gays.

"I look back now and realize I would bully people who I knew were gay," the now openly-gay father of twin boys recounts his days growing up. "I had internalized homophobia. To realize that was confronting to me. I wanted to get away from that."

"I didn't want them (his twin sons) growing up in a house of lies... or thinking that there was something wrong with being gay," he explains his decision of changing his view on life. "I felt the outpouring of love, and I could feel the criticism, too, but I loved that."

Martin came out of the closet in 2010. "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," he said in a statement back then. "I am very blessed to be who I am."
