Mick Jagger's hair lock is going to be auctioned off at Bonhams. The British auction house says that The Rolling Stones frontman's hair will be sold on July 3. It is expected to be fetched between $2,300 - $3,100. The auction house adds that proceeds from the auction will be donated to the charity, Changing Faces.

Jagger's lock was kept "in a small paper envelope," which was inscribed with words, "Mick Jagger's hair after being washed + trimmed by Chris at Rose Hill Farm." According to Bonhams' catalog of the item, the lock was cut by Chrissie Shrimpton, Jagger's then-girlfriend, in 1960s when the two were staying at a house which belonged to Shrimpton's family.

Unbeknownst to Shrimpton at that time, her grandmother kept the lock. It was later passed to her aunt. A cousin, who was taking care of her aunt's personal belongings after she passed away, handed the lock back to Shrimpton.

Jagger and Rolling Stones bandmate Keith Richards were housemates during the era. Chrissie Shrimpton, the sister of supermodel Jean Shrimpton, also lived with the two musicians. According to Daily Mail, Jagger and Shrimpton got engaged and moved to Regent's Park. The two, however, called off their engagement later.

A lock of Keith Richards' hair was also put into auction recently. Richards' hair strands, which were cut by a teenage fan in 1964, were fetched at $1,400 at an auction.
