Jessica Simpson and her younger sister Ashlee Simpson have stepped out for the first time amid the headline-grabbing divorce news of their parents. Jessica was caught on camera earlier on Wednesday, October 24, looking somber as she went to a gym for an exercise. The 32-year-old singer was seen rocking a black shirt and shorts under a red hoodie and hiding her face with shades as she stepped out of her car.
Her sister Ashlee, on the other hand, was photographed a day later on Thursday, October 25. The former wife of Pete Wentz was seen taking a stroll in Los Angeles while carrying her French bulldog. Sporting round-shaped sunglasses, sleeveless white tee and skinny pants, the 28-year-old singer couldn't hide the glum look on her face as the shutterbugs took her pictures from a close range.
Jessica and Ashlee are currently dealing with tumultuous times since their parents Joe and Tina decided to end their 34-year marriage. "It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved. Any other related allegations are completely false," a representative for the Simpson family said in a statement. "The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."
Tina filed for divorce in Texas, citing "discord or conflict of personalities" as the reason behind the split. Previous rumors, sparked by The National Enquirer, suggested that the exact reason why Tina decided to end her marriage was because Joe was gay. Though the rep had clarified that the report was false, the story continued to develop as Radar Online reported that Jessica was "blindsided" by Joe's alleged bombshell.
"Jessica had absolutely no clue that her father was gay, not even the slightest inkling," so said the source. "She thinks she has very good gaydar, especially since a lot of her friends are gay, but she did not see this coming at all. It was a complete shock to the system, she feels terribly for her mom who was left reeling by the announcement and her sister Ashlee has also taken the news quite badly."
The source added, "Jessica's been trying to process the information slowly, but she's having difficulty dealing with it. She can't understand why Joe stayed married to Tina for so long, and can't help wondering how much of their life was a lie."
"Despite that, she's going to stand by him and support his decision. After all, he's still her father and Joe's always been there for Jessica whenever she's needed him... And not just as a father, but as her manager too."
