Van Halen's guitarist Eddie Van Halen went through an emergency surgery for severe bout of Diverticulitis, forcing the band to postpone their Japanese tour. A statement on the band's website said that Eddie is expected to make a recovery within four to six months.

"Van Halen's scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013," a statement on the band's site said. The band have postponed some U.S. dates earlier this summer but gave no reason. Many believed it was the rising tension between returning frontman David Lee Roth and the rest of the band members.

Diverticulitis is a digestive disease particularly found in the large intestine which internal sacs are inflamed. In serious cases, the disease causes intense abdominal pain, fever and nausea.
