"Today" may be in search for a new co-host again. Reports have swirled around that NBC is preparing to drop Ann Curry, only a year after she succeeded Meredith Vieira who resigned from the show on June 2011.
According to The New York Times, the network's executives and Curry have been secretly discussing a different job for her and she may shift to a foreign correspondent role. The plan is not yet finalized, but is expected to be completed before NBC's coverage of London's Summer Olympics begins in late July.
Words are, some people at NBC have criticized the co-hosting style of Curry, who previously served as a news reader before taking a bigger role on the morning program. Some staffers reportedly also blamed her when ABC's "Good Morning America" ended "Today" winning streak this April.
Curry herself has allegedly been struggling with a decision to let go her "dream job." A source says the former "Dateline" host has hired an attorney, Robert Barnett, who previously represented Christiane Amanpour to help her with the negotiations.
The site further suggests that Savannah Guthrie, the co-host of the show's 9 A.M. hour, is likely the strongest candidate to replace Curry. A spokesperson for NBC, however, has not commented on the issue.
