Former Disney star Ashley Tisdale is set to spoof various hit horror pics in "Scary Movie 5". On Monday, June 4, The Weinstein Company announced that the 26-year-old starlet has been cast as one of the leads in the fifth installment of the parody film franchise.

The Sharpay Evans of the "High School Musical" film series will begin filming this summer with director duo Malcolm Lee and David Zucker, who also wrote the script for "Scary Movie 3" and "Scary Movie 4". The movie is projected to hit theaters across the U.S. on January 11, 2013.

Tisdale's last big screen effort was in 2011, when she lent her voice to Candace Flynn in "Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension". She also reprised her role as Sharpay Evans in spin-off film "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure". The New Jersey-born star recently produced a Bravo series called "Miss Advised", which will be premiered on June 18.
