Dropping 48 percent from last weekend, the African American-themed comedy beats this week's newcomers; 'Pirates! Band of Misfits', 'Five-Year Engagement', 'Safe' and 'Raven'.

"Think Like a Man" secures its champion title on North American box office for the second consecutive weekend. The African American-themed comedy movie takes in $17.6 million this week, dropping 48|percent| from the previous weekend. So far, the film collects a total domestic cume of $60.8 million.
Opening on the runner-up spot is Sony Pictures and Aardman Animations' "The Pirates! Band of Misfits". The one-stop motion picture that cost $50 million to produce bags $11.1 million domestically, while earning $63.7 million internationally on its debut weekend.
Though it fails to dethrone "Think Like a Man" from the top spot, Sony president of distribution Rory Bruer says that the result for "Pirates" is quite satisfying. He claims, " 'Pirates' opened right in our sweet spot domestically."
*Falling one position from last week is "The Lucky One" which grabs $10.8 million this weekend. Securing the third place, the Zac Efron-starring romantic drama drops 50|percent| from last weekend, while collecting a total domestic cume of $39.9 million after two weeks of playing in the U.S. theaters.
*"The Hunger Games" lands on the fourth place this weekend with $10.8 million, dropping a slight 23|percent| from last week. Pocketing a total domestic cume of $372.4 million in its sixth week, "Hunger Games" officially beats "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II", which earned $366 million at the same point in its run.
Rounding up the top five is another newcomer "The Five-Year Engagement", which rakes in $10.6 million. Attracting to mostly older moviegoers, the Jason Segel-starring adult comedy apparently performs under expectations. "Although it opened slightly lower than expected, the movie will make up ground in ancillary markets," says Nikki Rocco, Universal Pictures president of distribution.
Meanwhile, this week's new releases that couldn't make it to the top five are "Safe" and "The Raven", which land on the sixth and seventh places respectively. The Jason Statham-starring action film grabs $7.8 million, while the John Cusack-starring crime thriller takes in $7.2 million.

*UPDATE (May 1, 2012 01:15 A.M. GMT): When the final figures came out on Monday, April 30, "The Lucky One" dropped another slot to the fourth. Hence, it swapped place with "The Hunger Games", which now secured the third position on the chart.
