Gotye is gaining momentum with his latest music release. The Belgian-Australian indie rocker charms his way into Billboard Hot 100 through his unique, yet catchy single "Somebody That I Used to Know". Slowly but sure, he climbs to the top 5 before peaking at No. 3 on the list.

Inspired by his "various experiences I've had in relationships breaking up," the musician, whose real name is Wouter "Wally" De Backer, crafted a genre-bending tune that people could relate to through its lyrical prose. In the break-up song, he collaborated with New Zealand singer Kimbra.

Talking about the chart-busting song, Gotye explained, "It wasn't a nasty break-up, but it was messy in the sense that we hurt each other more than we needed to because it wasn't a clean break... We both realized we had to move on and we haven't seen each other since."

Hot on heels of its success on the chart, "Somebody That I Used to Know" was picked as one of the songs for "Glee" upcoming episode called "Big Brother". The track is covered by Darren Criss and his on-screen brother Matthew Bomer.

As for the album where the single appears, Gotye revealed the CD almost didn't happen. "There were points that I thought I wouldn't be able to finish a record I was really into or that I'd give up at some stage," he opened up about his inner battle with indecision and depression.

His hard work finally paid off when the album was completed and rolled out to the market. Titled "Making Mirrors", it busted Billboard Hot 200, landing at No. 9 in its first week on sale Stateside. It additionally topped U.S. Alternative Album chart.

He will next perform in an episode of "Saturday Night Live" where Josh Brolin is expected to host.
