Arnold Schwarzenegger has spoken up about why he cast Eddie Murphy in "Triplets". Speaking to Coming Soon, the former California governor said that it would be exciting to get people curious about how Murphy becomes the third brother to him and Danny DeVito in the sequel to his 1988 comedy "Twins".
The professional bodybuilder-turned-actor admitted that the sequel movie is a project he's been eyeing to do for a long time. He said, "I would love to do another 'Twins'. As a matter of fact, we've been talking about doing one and it's called 'Triplets'."
On getting Murphy as his unlikely third sibling, the 64-year-old actor shared, "I'd find somebody like Eddie Murphy or someone that people would say, 'How does that happen, medically speaking?' and, 'Physically, there's no way!' Then, somehow, we would explain it." He added, "That would be hilarious with what we know about someone like him."
"I can see a poster. A billboard with us three. 'They found another one! Triplets! Only their mother can tell them apart!' I would do that in two seconds, because that's real entertainment," Schwarzenegger continued. "You come out with that movie for Christmas, like December 5 or something like that, and you're home free."
"Triplets" is still in the early phase of production and is currently looking for a writer and a director. Ivan Reitman, who directed the original film, will be on board as the co-producer along with Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell.
The original film, "Twins", follows Schwarzenegger's Julius and DeVito's Vincent as unlikely twins who were separated at birth. The comedy movie collected $216,6 million worldwide despite the fact that it was made with a mere $15 million budget.
