Both newcomers are unable to take over the top spot from the famous novel-adapted movie, which has crossed a $250 million mark in only ten days after being released in the U.S. cinemas.

AceShowbiz - "The Hunger Games" secures the champion title on the North American box office for the second week in a row. Collecting $58.5 million this week, the famous novel-adapted movie grosses a total domestic cume of $251 million. The film crosses a $250 million mark in only 10 days, which is the fastest grossing ever for a non-sequel feature.
Newcomer "Wrath of the Titans" can't take over the top spot from "Hunger Games". Opening to $33.4 million, the sequel to "Clash of the Titans" can't best its predecessor which grossed a massive $61.2 million on its opening weekend on Good Friday holiday in 2010.
"We made the decision to open even with 'Hunger Games' and the NCAA Final Four basketball games so that we could play through the heart of the holidays. We knew this would be a preview," so says Warner Bros. Pictures president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman. The Greek myth epic movie receives a B+ CinemaScore, while attracting 66|percent| male audience. Around 55|percent| of the ticket buyers are over the age of 25.
Another new release, "Mirror Mirror", lands on the third place with $18.1 million. The Snow White movie starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins appeals to 37|percent| audience under the age of 12.
Despite the so-so result, Relativity media says that it will continue to support the $85 million family movie. "Yes, we would have liked more, but we're in a great position to play through the holidays and we are going to continue to support the film in a great way," Relativity president of distribution Kyle Davies says. "It is the only new PG title in the marketplace."
Securing the fourth place is "21 Jump Street", which grosses $14.8 million. Dropping a slight 27|percent| from last week, the adult comedy movie collects a total domestic cume of $93.1 million after three weeks playing in cinemas nationwide. Rounding up the top five is "The Lorax" which adds $7.7 million to its $189.6 million domestic cume in its fifth week.
Meanwhile, The Weinstein Company's controversial documentary, "Bully", opens to $116,400 after being released as an "unrated" title in five theaters. The result is relatively small given the film's massive early buzz. "It played best with teenagers and we're hopeful that we can more and more because it's an important film for them to see," Weinstein Co. president of distribution Erik Lomis says.
