A first on-set photo from Tom Hooper's "Les Miserables" has revealed how Hugh Jackman will look like as Monsieur Jean Valjean. While filming a scene for the forthcoming musical film in London, the "Real Steel" actor looked almost unrecognizable as he was caught on camera looking so jacked and dirty.

Showing off a skinny look, Jackman was snapped ditching his hunky persona by wearing dirty rags. The Sydney-born actor also looked scruffy as he sported a poorly-shaved haircut that exposes scars all over his head.

Jackman's Valjean is a poor man who has been on the run from the law for 19 years after he stole bread to feed his sister's starving children during an economic depression in France. He is relentlessly pursued his whole life by Inspector Javert, who will be played by Russell Crowe.

In addition to Jackman and Crowe, "Les Miserables" is supported by Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Samantha Barks as Eponine, Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier, and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier.

William Nicholson writes the script based on an 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo. Universal Pictures will release the anticipated musical on December 14 in theaters across the U.S.
