The CW has found its young Carrie Bradshaw. AnnaSophia Robb has been cast for the lead role in the network's pilot "The Carrie Diaries", which is a prequel to HBO's "Sex and the City" starring Sarah Jessica Parker.

Based on Candace Bushnell's novel of the same title, the upcoming show will follow Carrie in her younger ages, when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.

Amy Harris ("Gossip Girl") writes the script and serves as executive producer along with Bushnell, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. Miguel Arteta will direct the pilot.

Robb will join Stefania Owen who has been earlier cast as Carrie's 14-year-old sister in the project. The 18-year-old actress has previously starred in big screen films like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Bridge to Terabithia", "Race to Witch Mountain", and most recently "Soul Surfer".
