After landing a role in "Prometheus", Michael Fassbender is set to reunite with director Ridley Scott once again in "The Counselor". Deadline has broken the news that the "Shame" actor is officially committed to star in the thriller, which will be Scott's next gig after "Prometheus".

According to the report, the upcoming movie project is expected to kick off the production on May 1. Therefore, Scott is currently approaching several A-listers to join his next movie. It is said that the English filmmaker is looking for a right actor to tackle the villain and has his eyes on Jeremy Renner for the part. Other high-profile actors like Bradley Cooper and Brad Pitt were also mentioned in the mix.

Major plot details of "The Counselor" still remain scarce, but it is reported that the film is described as "No Country For Old Men on steroids." The story follows a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.

The screenplay is written by Pulitzer and Oscar winner Cormac McCarthy. The project, which is co-produced by Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz, still hasn't found a major studio to develop it.

Fassbender himself has starred in several high-profile movies recently. They include "Jane Eyre", "X-Men: First Class", "A Dangerous Method", "Shame" and "Haywire". In addition to "The Counselor", he is poised to reunite with "Shame" helmer Steve McQueen in "12 Years a Slave".

The Irish-German actor is also preparing an epic movie based on Old Irish legends called "Irish Myths". Along with with "Public Enemies" screenwriter Ronan Bennett, he develops a feature film about legendary Celtic warrior Cuchulain in his London-based production company, Finn McCool Films.
